CHAKRA DAY CELEBRATIONS- 8 GRENADIERS

Today we celebrate our Battle Honour Day with such intense pride that it takes us back to the day it all happened- our planning, crossing the ice cold water of the Karir, then our arty fire and suddenly all hell breaking loose with the sky being illuminated like Diwali and the roar of Sarvda Shaktishali intense firing of all arms and then after some time the success signals. We got ready for the counter attacks as what we had captured was a pivital position for the enemy- first came the infantry attack which failed and it was followed by the Armour which was also repulsed leaving Chakra entirely in our hand. While we celebrate our victory let us stand in respectful silence for our fallen heroes who were really instrumental in our victory. Let us celebrate the sprit of the men of Eighth as they have etched the name of the unit in the annals of our country's history. I pray to God to keep, nay increase, our spirit alive, god bless you all.
